Detailed Solution

Ajaymeru was the ancient name of Ajmer. It was incorporated under the Slave dynasty of the Delhi sultanate in 1193. When the Rajput monarchs paid their tribute, it was returned to them, but Akbar, the Mughal emperor who ruled from 1556 to 1605, stole it in 1556. The previous name for Ajmer was Ajaymeru. The city was founded by Ajaydeva, a Chahamana monarch, in the eleventh century. According to historian Dasharatha Sharma, Palha's Pattavali, transcribed in Dhara in 1113 CE (1170 VS), is where the city's name is first recorded. Moinuddin Chisti, also known as Garib Nawaz, was the founder of the Chisti order of Sufism and is buried in Ajmer at the revered Dargah Sharif, which also houses other significant religious buildings. Visits to the shrine are enjoyable for people of all faiths. Pushkar is regarded as sacred by Hindus as they believe it to have been the residence of Lord Brahma.
