Ajmer, a city in Rajasthan, is associated with the Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. Famous Sufi Saint Khwaja Muinuddin Chisti was in charge of bringing the Sufi order to India. To promote Islam, he arrived and settled in Ajmer. He arrived in Delhi during the reign of the sultan Iltutmish and shortly after moved from Delhi to Ajmer, where he became more and more influenced by the writings of the eminent Sunni Hanbali scholar and mystic Abdallah Anr. The Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Ajmer, Rajasthan is a famous shrine in Ajmer dedicated to Chishti’s works.
