Detailed Solution

Akbar's principle of Sulh-i Kul was also known as universal peace.
During the 1570s, Akbar engaged in religious discussions in Fatehpur Sikri with Brahmanas, the ulama, Zoroastrians, and Jesuit priests. These discussions usually took place in Ibadat Khana. But the meeting revealed that religious scholars were often prejudiced against other believers and considered their rituals superior to the rest. Hence Akbar was disappointed when he learnt that differences tore people apart and introduced a state of disharmony. The emperor favoured unity over bigotry and thus promoted "universal peace", or sulh-i kul, which facilitates religious tolerance.
