Alexander refused to march farther Eastward into India.
Alexander, the Macedonian ruler, desired to dominate the known globe at the time. Because of the legends they had heard of Indian kings, he did not march further east into India. Massive armies of foot warriors, chariots, and elephants were described in the legends. They were scared of the mighty Magadha Empire over the Beas river since the battles of Sakala and Jhelum had opened their eyes. As a result, Alexander marched back in September 325 BC after establishing administrative preparations for the captured province.
