The 18-year-old monk, Alluri Sitaram Raju, an Indian revolutionary, who opposed the British Raj for passing the 1882 Madras Forest Act, which severely restricted the tribal group's freedom of movement inside their own woodlands. As a reaction to this act, he led the Rampa Rebellion in 1922. He was born on July 4, 1897, in the West Godavari district's Mogallu village, which is close to Bhimavaram. His family was a Telugu Kshatriya. Alluri Sitarama Raju was apprehended by British policemen in the Chintapalli jungles in 1924. In Koyyuru village, he was shot dead after being tied to a tree. He died at Visakhapatnam's Mampa village on May 7, 1924.
