Detailed Solution

Along with clay and slit, sand makes up the alluvial soil.
Alluvial soil may also be found in the eastern coastal plains, particularly in the Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna, and Kaveri river deltas. The ratios of sand, silt, and clay in the alluvial soil vary. The size of the soil particles appears to increase as we approach inland and closer to the river valleys. The soils are coarse at the higher portions of the river valley or close to where the slope breaks. Such soils are more prevalent in piedmont plains like the Terai and Duars.
