It is given that Aman’s age is three times his son’s age and ten years ago he was five times his son’s age.
Let the present age of Aman’s son is x years then,
Aman’s age = 3x year
Linear equation from above statement will be
3x10=5 x10  
Solving above equation,
3x10=5x5×10 3x10=5x50  
Transposing 5x to the left-hand side and -10 to the right-hand side.
3x5x=50+10 2x=40 x= 40 2 x=20 years  
The age of Aman’s son is 20 years,
and Aman’s age is
=3×20 year  
= 60 years.
Hence, the presents age of Aman and his son is 60 and 20 years respectively.
