Amendment in Child Labour Act was made in 2016.
The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act of 1986 was amended in 2016. The act aims at protecting, preventing and regulating undergrad children from being employed in hazardous working conditions. The Child Labour Act prescribes 14 years as the minimu age under which a child shall not work in a factory, mine or industry. The amendment added more strict punishments to the violators of the act by the Government. The act now also allows the Government to bar the employment of adolescents working in hazardous conditions.
