It is given that Amina thinks of a number and subtracts 5 2   from it and she multiplies the result by 8.
Let the required number be x.
Linear equation will be 8× x− 5 2  
The result now obtained is 3 times the same number she thought of.
Linear equation will be 8× x− 5 2 =3x  
Solving the equation ,
⇒8×x−8× 5 2 =3x ⇒8x−4×5=3x ⇒8x−20=3x  
Transposing 3x to the left-hand side and -20 to the right-hand side.
⇒8x−3x=20 ⇒5x=20 ⇒x= 20 5 ⇒x=4  
Hence, the required number is 4.
Correct option is 1.
