Mackerel is an important food fish that is consumed worldwide. It is an oily fish and a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids. Rastrelliger kanagurta  is the Indian mackerel.

Omega-3 fatty acids are a type of polyunsaturated fat that are commonly found in fish, particularly in fatty fish,
such as salmon, mackerel and sardines. Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation, improve heart health and support brain function. Because our body cannot produce omega-3 fatty acids on its own, it is important to get them from dietary sources, such as fish.

(1) Mystus seenghala is a freshwater fish commonly known as Adriai tenger or sykes.

(2) Magur (Clarias batrachus), the Asian catfish, is a freshwater fish.
