An athlete completes one round of a circular track of diameter 200 m in 40 s. The distance covered at the end of 2 minutes and 20 s will be 220 m.
Given:diameter = 200 m, time = 2 minutes 20 seconds 
     =2×60+20
     =140 s.
Length of circular track = circumference of the circular track
We know Circumference πd=227×200m.
            Circumference =44007m.
Therefore, distance travelled in 40s=44007m.
Distance travelled in 1 s=44007×40
        =1107m
Distance travelled in 2 minutes and 20 seconds
=1107×140
=220 m
