Detailed Solution

An earthquake wave is measured by an instrument called a seismograph.
The tremors produce waves on the surface of the earth. These are called seismic waves. The waves are recorded by an instrument called the seismograph. A vibrating rod suspended from rigid support vibrates according to the tremors. The tip of the rod has a bob on which, in turn, a pen is attached, which moves on a paper fixed on a drum, and a wave pattern is formed. By analyzing these waves, scientists can construct a complete earthquake map. They can also estimate its power to cause destruction.
