Detailed Solution

An electric fuse is a safety device which protects electric circuits and appliances by breaking the current flow of any unduly high electric current.
A fuse is a type of electrical safety device that protects an electrical circuit from overcurrent damage. An integral part is a metal wire or strip that melts under excessive current flow, stopping or interrupting the current. The heating effect of electric current causes the fuse wire to melt. This melting of fuse wire is because the fuse wire is chosen such that it has a low melting point. The melting of the wire causes the loop to break, stopping the flow of charges in the circuit. It is a low melting point copper or other metal wire that breaks down due to heat caused by high voltage or overload to avoid short circuits or any damage to the device.
