Detailed Solution

Electric fuse work on the principle of heating effects of current. When an electric current is allowed to flow through a high-resistance wire, such as a nichrome wire, the conductor heats up and produces heat. Such a heating action of a conductor is known as the Heating effect of Current.

A fuse wire is a wire of high resistance and low melting point. When a very large current will pass through it, heat will be generated which will melt the fuse wire and break the circuit.

By using electric fuses in the home we can protect the home appliances from damage by a large amount of current.
