Detailed Solution

An expedition against Shakas from Western India was led by Chandragupta II. Chandragupta II was the successor of Samudragupta, as well as his son. We find evidence about him from the coins and inscriptions. Chandragupta II led an expedition against Shakas from the western part of India and won. His court is also believed to have many learned scholars like Kalidasa, the great poet, and Aryabhatta, the great astronomer. After the victory over the Shakas, Chandragupta II also assumed the title of Vikramaditya. He defeated the last ruler named Rudrasimha III in his expedition and took control over the western part bringing it under the Gupta reign.
