⇒46=40+ 115−x−42 60 10 ⇒ 6 10 = 73−x 65 ⇒39=73−x ⇒x=73−39 ⇒x=34  
Substituting 3   for x   in the equation 1  ,
⇒x+y=80 ⇒y=80−34 ⇒y=46  
Thus, the values of x is 34 and y is 46.
Therefore, option (2) is correct.
