The Independence pledge was taken by the Indian national congress on 26 January 1930 and was drafted by Mahatma Gandhi. The pledge had the essence of the American Declaration of Independence. Jawahar Lal Nehru drafted the Poorna swaraj resolution. The people of India were given the right to freedom as it was an inalienable right of the people. The pledge gave them the right to have necessities of life so that they could have all the possible opportunities for growth and could enjoy the fruits of their toil.
