Detailed Solution

concept - To determine the pH of a solution, we employ indicators. In neutral, basic, and acidic fluids, different indicators function in various ways.
Because red cabbage naturally contains a pH indicator that changes colour based on the acidity of the solution, we might use it as an indicator.
The presence of flavin, an anthocyanin recognised as a chemical, is what gives red cabbage its red colour. Black grapes, blueberries, raspberries, and many other foods that are red, black, blue, or purple contain the water-soluble pigment anthocyanin.
It is purple, when in a neutral solution. It is red in acidic solutions and greenish-yellow in alkaline solutions, respectively.
As a result, in alkaline liquids, the red cabbage indicator turns greenish yellow.
Hence, the correct answer is option 1.
