Detailed Solution

Ans: Electrostatic force is the force which is responsible for the attraction between the balloon and the wall.

When a piece of synthetic fabric is rubbed on the balloon, it gets charged. Now, if we place this charged balloon next to the wall, it sticks to the uncharged wall. This is due to the electrostatic force of attraction that exists between the balloon and the wall.

Note:

Electrostatic force:-

The force exerted by a charged body on another charged or uncharged body is known as electrostatic force. The electrostatic force, is an example of a non-contact force.

where,

Non-contact force is a force applied to a body by another body that is not in direct contact with it.
