Detailed Solution

An Inscription was found in Rosetta, a town on the north coast of Egypt.
One of the most famous decipherment stories comes from Egypt, a country in North Africa with kings and queens around 5000 years ago. Rosetta is a town on Egypt's north coast where an inscribed stone with inscriptions in three different languages and scripts was discovered (Greek, and two forms of Egyptian). Scholars who could read Greek realised that the names of kings and queens were enclosed in a small frame called a cartouche. They then compared the Greek and Egyptian signs and identified the sounds for which the Egyptian letters stood. A lion stood in for L, and a bird stood in for A. They could read other inscriptions once they knew what the letters meant.
