Detailed Solution

An instrument which is used to detect a charged body is called an electroscope.
An electroscope is a device used to check the charge of an object, which is made up of a metal rod. Two aluminium foil leaves are fixed at one end and a metal disc at another. The leaves of aluminium foil are placed in a conical flask, and the leaves are isolated from the air in the flask. When the metal disc comes in contact with any changed body, aluminium foil leaves separate from each other. It is due to transferring charges to leaves through a metal rod. If the body is not charged, the leaves will not separate from each other.
