Detailed Solution

We know that,

The Heron's formula for calculating the area of the triangle,

Area of triangle = s (s - a) (s - b) (s -c)

where, s is the semi-perimeter = half of the perimeter = 30/2 = 15 cm

and  a, b and c are the sides of the triangle

Triangular sides are, a = 12 cm, b = 12 cm, c =?

Thus, Semi-perimeter

s = (a + b + c)/2

15 = (12 + 12 + c)/2

15 = 24 + c/2

30 =  24 + c

c = 6 cm

Area of triangle = 15(15 - 12)(15 -12)(15 - 6)

15 × 3 × 3 × 9

1215

= 915  cm2
