Detailed Solution

Given:
Linear momentum, p= 8 kg.m/s
Mass, m= 2 kg

To find:
Kinetic energy, K.E

Solution:

Momentum is mass in motion. It is given by p= mv

Kinetic energy is the energy possessed by a body in motion. It is given by 12mv2

where, m is the mass of the body and v is the velocity.

By solving equations of momentum and kinetic energy, we can write,

KE= 12p2m

Substituting the values,

KE= 12(8)22= 644= 16 J

Therefore, the kinetic energy of the object will be 16 J.
