An object should be placed at the focus, in front of a convex lens so that the image formed is at infinity.
The principal focus of the convex lens is a point on the principal axis where the light rays seem to intersect after refraction from the lens. For example, if an object is placed at focus in front of a convex lens, the light rays from the object strike the lens, and then the rays become parallel to the ground, and the image is formed at infinity.
