The compound Q on oxidation with acidified solution of KMnO4 yields R (C7H10O4), which does not undergo intramolecular dehydration on heating with  P2O5. The compound R on heating with NaOH (CaO) gives S  (C5H10). S on heating with dry bromine vapour given T(C5H9Br) as only monobromo derivative
