In asexual reproduction no gametes of two individuals of different sexes take part. It means that in asexual reproduction, only one parent is involved so the genetic makeup for the new progeny has come from one parent that makes progeny as an exact copy of their parent. Progeny is called a clone due to its exact match of genetic makeup with the parent individual making the organism that is genetically and morphologically similar to its parent.
