The above information was given about the Dandi march started by Mahatma Gandhi. In January 1930, he wrote Viceroy Irwin a letter with eleven requests. The most rousing demand was to abolish the salt charge. Salt was something that was consumed by both the wealthy and the poor, and it was one of the most important food products. Hence Gandhiji started the salt march in which he covered a distance of 240 miles by walking.
