Detailed Solution

Bengali author Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote the book Anandamath in 1882. One of the most significant books in Bengali and Indian literature history, it was set against the backdrop of the Sannyasi Rebellion in the late 18th century. The fact that it came to be associated with the fight for Indian independence from the British Empire increased the significance of the event. The British government outlawed the book. After India gained independence, the prohibition was abolished by the Indian government. Vande Mataram, India's national anthem, first appeared in this book. He penned "Vande Mataram" in the 1870s as a patriotic hymn.
