Suppose salary before increment is Rs x.
Increment = 10%
Present salary = x + 10% of x.
We know that a% of b =

\frac{a}{100} \times b

where a and b are real numbers.

3575 = x + \frac{10}{100} x

3575 = \frac{100 x + 10 x}{100}

3575 = \frac{110 x}{100}

x = \frac{3575 (100)}{110}

x = 3250
So, before increment the salary was Rs. 3250 .
