Detailed Solution

Antibody-mediated immunity is also known as humoral immunity.

This type of immunity involves the production of antibodies by special white blood cells called B lymphocytes (B cells). When your body is exposed to harmful pathogens like bacteria or viruses, these B cells recognize the invaders and release antibodies that bind to them. Once attached, these antibodies help neutralize the pathogens or mark them for destruction by other immune cells.

Unlike cell-mediated immunity, which involves T cells attacking infected cells directly, humoral (antibody-mediated) immunity works through fluids like blood and lymph to fight infections before they enter cells.
