Detailed Solution

Any party with 6 percent of total votes in the Lok Sabha or Legislative Assembly elections in any four or more states and wins at least four seats in the Lok Sabha is recognised as a National Party.
The recognition of a political party as a national party is provided by the Election Commission of India, which is a three-membered constitutional body. Currently, there are eight national parties in India. These are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India (Marxist), India National Congress (INC), All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and National People’s Party (NPP).
