Gram panchayat is an elected body or representative whose members are by the people of the people. This member works as a bridge between Gram Panchayat and Gram Sabha. All the members of Gram Panchayat belong to the village. They have the right to vote in the election of the panch of the ward and sarpanch of the town. After attaining the age of 18 years, they have the right to choose their representatives in the gram panchayat through regular free and fair elections. They are also a member of the gram sabha, where meetings and proceedings take place for the village's development. This meeting is presided over by the villagers' representative, the sarpanch.
