Apart from the existing regular police, Nazis created special surveillance and security forces to control and order the society according to them.
The Gestapo (Secret State Police), the SS (the protection squads), criminal police, and security service were among them, in addition to the already-present ordinary police wearing green uniforms and the Storm Troopers (SA). The Nazi state became the world's most hated criminal state due to the extralegal authority these newly organised forces possessed. Now, people may be arrested without legal procedures, held in Gestapo torture cells, rounded up and transferred to concentration camps, deported at pleasure, or exiled. The police forces obtained the authority to rule without restraint. To govern or organise society the way the Nazis desired, specialised security and surveillance forces were thus established.
