There are people of various races living in South Africa. Indians who arrived as laborers and traders, white settlers, and black people all had a place in South Africa. Laws enforcing segregation were in place in South Africa. Separation on the grounds of race is known as apartheid. Whites, Blacks, Indians, and Colored people made up the majority of the population of South Africa.
