Detailed Solution

Given,
The numbers are 4052 and 420.
Let a=4052   and b=420  ,
Now as we know,
Euclid division lemma states that if we have two numbers a and b, then there exist unique integers p   and q which satisfies the condition a=bq+r,0r<b  .
Using Euclid division lemma, we get,
4052=420×9+272
420=272×1+148
272=148×1+124
148=124×1+24
124=24×5+4
24=4×6+0
Now remainder is zero,
Hence the HCF is 4.
Thus, the HCF of numbers 4052 and 420 is 4.
Therefore, option(1)     is correct answer.
