Concept: In an effort to identify disease, the Arneth count provides information on the nucleus of one type of WBC (neutrophil). 

• The percentage of neutrophils with one, two, three, four, or five lobes or more is determined by the Arneth count. 
• People with a left shift have a higher proportion of neutrophils overall but fewer lobes, which can be a sign of diseases including infection, cancer, hemolytic crisis, myocardial infarction, acidosis, etc.
• People with a right shift have a higher proportion of neutrophils and more lobes, and they are more likely to suffer from conditions like chronic uremia, liver illness, vitamin B12 or folate deficiencies, etc. Joseph Arneth, a physicist, is honoured by the name Arneth count.
