Detailed Solution

Around 2,00,000  wolves were hunted in India between 1875 and 1925.
While the forest regulations took away people's traditional hunting right to hunt, hunting big animals became a pastime. Hunting was an integral component of court and aristocracy culture in India for many years. A large retinue of servants accompanied both Britishers and Rajas on their hunting expeditions. The Sahib fired the shot while the trained village hunters carried out the tracking. Because they presented a threat to cultivators, they offered incentives for the slaughter of tigers, wolves, and other huge creatures. From 1875 to 1925, 200,000 wolves were killed for the reward. Only much later did conservationists and environmentalists start to make the case that all of these species of animals deserved to be saved rather than killed.
