A simple sentence could be a sentence that has only one clause in it. The clause must contain an issue and a predicate.
Example: Joe waited for the train.
Here, Joe is that the subject or the noun and ‘waited’ is that the verb.

Note: an easy sentence can become compound with the addition of another clause thereto. The subject-verb-agreement should be maintained in compound also as complex sentences.
