Detailed Solution

As per the Constitution of India, the use of the English language as the official language was to stop in 1965. English was made the official language of India, along with Hindi, during the implementation of the Constitution of India. It was decided that since English had been used for official purposes for such a long time in India, its immediate ending could cause problems, so it continued to be used as an official language. However, it was planned that fifteen years later, in 1965, the use of the English language in official work shall stop. However, this could not be done since certain states that have the majority of English speakers protested against it. Hence, English has continued to be used as an official language in India since its independence.
