Detailed Solution

As per tradition, warriors of Maasai society faced east to honour the sun.
Before the British took over, the Maasai society was classified into two categories: elders and warriors. As per tradition, they faced the East to respect the rising sun. Cattle were wealthy in the Maasai society. So, cattle raids were necessary; through them, a pastoral community declared its superiority over the rest. The warriors organised cattle raids and helped herd livestock during drought. The warriors were also subject to the orders of elders.
