So, the British turned to India for the procurement of raw cotton. They also imposed an obligation on the supply of natural cotton to British industries. As raw cotton began to export, the prices increased in the international market. The weavers in India, who were already facing a supply deficit, were affected by the price rise. This reduced the Indian weavers to poverty, and British Industries gained prominence.
