Detailed Solution

As the distance from the sea increases, its moderating influence decreases. This condition is termed as Continentality. The total length of the mainland's coastline, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, is 7,516.6 km, and India's land border is around 15,200 km long. The moderating effect decreases when the distance from the sea increases. It is called Continentality (extremely hot in summers and cold in winters). Vast coastal areas have an equable climate since they have a lengthy coastline. India's interior parts are very remote from the sea's moderating influence. Climate extremes exist in these places. Because of this, the inhabitants of Mumbai and the Konkan coast have little understanding of temperature extremes and the seasonal cycle of the weather. Cities like Delhi, Kanpur, and Amritsar are affected due to the seasonal changes in the weather conditions in the interior part of the country.
