Detailed Solution

As the population increased, the open fields started disappearing in 18th-century Europe. An open field system is a system in which all the landless or seasonal farmers can come together on common land and cultivate their products. In the 18th century, landlords enclosed their borders, and the decentralisation of farming started. Population played an important role in shrinking the cultivable area per farmer. Consequently, the size of farms began to shrink. The open-field system was the lifeline of many seasonal workers and others, but due to its decline, they had to look for other alternatives. The open-field system is currently practised under the name of community farming.
