Assertion (A) is false, but Reason (R) is true.
China is not a democratic country. It is a dictatorship, with only one party's rule prevailing all the time there. Elections are held every five years to elect the country's Parliament in China. All power (thus People'sPeople's) belongs to the people and their representatives. The National People'sPeople's Congress wields absolute power in the country, and its members are elected by the people (hence democratic). No one else has the ability to run China (hence dictatorship). The Chinese Communist Party believes it is the single and authentic representative of the entire Chinese people. The CCP refuses to allow any other political force to contest its control or comes as its competition. Other political parties exist in China (quite a few); they are legally sanctioned, and anybody can join them without restriction. However, they can only make recommendations to the ruling party and have no real political influence in the country.
