Detailed Solution

Statement (A) is False but statement (R) is True.
The Sinhala-dominated government of Sri Lanka implemented several majoritarian policies to establish  Sinhala dominance. Sri Lankan believed that none of the majority parties headed by Buddhist Sinhala politicians was considerate of their language and culture. Thus, the Sri Lankan Tamils felt alienated and established their political organisations to fight for the recognition of Tamil as an official language, regional autonomy, and equal access to education and employment. However, their persistent requests for greater autonomy for the Tamil-populated provinces were constantly turned down. It led to a civil war in the country and not a cold war.
