In 1918, Gandhi organised a satyagraha to support the peasants of the Kheda district of Gujarat.
The peasants demanded a reduction in revenue taxes because of crop failure and a plague epidemic in Kheda. However, the government didn't agree to any exemption from paying land taxes.
