Detailed Solution

Assertion (A) is true, but Reason (R) is false.
In 1999, General Pervez Musharraf launched a military coup that deposed Pakistan's democratically elected government which existed in the country. Later on, he declared himself the country's 'Chief Executive.' On October 12, 1999, the Pakistan Army and General Pervez Musharraf, the then Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, seized control over the civilian government of publicly elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a bloodless coup. On October 14 1999, two days after taking control over the government, General Musharraf, who was then acting as the country's Chief Executive, proclaimed a state of emergency by issuing a Provisional Constitutional Order suspending the writ of the Pakistani Constitution. He was not forced or manipulated into leading the military coup, which makes statement R false.
