Detailed Solution

Not all pastoralists lived in the highlands; some lived on plateaus, plains, and in the deserts of India. They all had to use the pastures that were accessible in various locations while adjusting to seasonal variations. They relocated their herds and flocks to new sites when the pasture became depleted or unworkable in one location. This constant mobility kept the pastures from being overused and allowed them to recuperate. The Gollas, Kurumas, and Kurubas lived in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the Gujjars and Gaddis in the Himalayas, the Dhangars in Maharashtra, and the Raikas in Rajasthan.
