A rapidly spreading illness called the cattle plague, or Rinderpest, entered Africa from the east and spread westward like a forest fire until it reached Africa's Atlantic coast in 1892. Five years later, it arrived at Cape, the southernmost point of Africa. Unfortunately, 90% of the livestock were killed by Rinderpest along the road. The loss of cattle damaged African livelihoods. Planters, mine owners, and colonial administrations successfully monopolised the few remaining cattle resources to increase their dominance and drive Africans into the labour force. As a result, Rinderpest devastated the local economy and the way of life of the populace in Africa in the 1890s.
Africa's conquest and tyranny were made possible by European colonists' control over the resource-poor livestock. It is an excellent illustration of the extensive effects of European imperialism on colonised civilisations.
Hence, both the Assertion and Reason are true, but the Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion.
