The Process of essential goods rose to an impossible level for workers to afford. The wages of the workers at the same time were reduced by 20 per cent. This resulted in the rise of workers joining associations. Over the following days, around 110,000 workers in St Petersburg went on strike demanding a reduction in working hours and an increase in wages. The police attacked the crowd. More than 100 workers were killed and 300 were wounded. This very incident is known as Bloody Sunday. This series of events also come under the Russian Revolution. During this revolution itself, the Tsar allowed the creation of an elected consultative body known as the Duma or Parliament.
